Recruiting in Morocco

Context

Morocco boasts an exceptional wealth of highly qualified young graduates, available at competitive prices. In an increasingly globalized market, Moroccan companies are navigating between the need to compete with international players and the need to adapt to cultural practices that differ from those in Europe. This dynamic offers a unique opportunity to capitalize on local talent while innovating recruitment strategies to attract the best profiles. Morocco is well placed to turn these challenges into opportunities, creating a promising future for recruitment.

Key steps to successful recruitment in Morocco

In Morocco, recruiters use a variety of channels to advertise jobs and attract candidates. Here is an overview of the main channels used:

- Twitter: Less widely used, but may be relevant for certain sectors.

Language of communication

Morocco's official languages are Arabic and Tamazight. However, many locals also speak Berber, Tachelhit, Ttrifit and French. In this diverse linguistic context, recruiters need to be flexible and ready to conduct interviews in any of these languages, depending on the candidates' linguistic preferences. An interpreter or translator may be required for interviews and meetings.

Cultural diversity

To ensure a fair recruitment process, recruiters need to adopt an inclusive approach. It's vital to ensure that evaluation criteria are impartial, to avoid any inadvertent preference for a specific group.

Get references and check diplomas

To avoid unpleasant surprises in Morocco, it is advisable to ask for references, diplomas and proof of the information given on the CV. This will help you assess the candidate's responsiveness and reliability. This is a commonly accepted practice in Morocco.
