Points to consider before hiring Egypt

Working hours and rest
The standard working week is 40 hours, stretching from Sunday to Thursday, with Friday and Saturday as rest days. Any work performed in excess of 8 hours a day is considered overtime. During the day, overtime is paid at a 35% premium, while at night it is paid at a 75% premium. For weekend work, the rate of increase is 100% and the employee is entitled to a day’s rest in compensation.
Paid vacations
Employees with at least six months’ seniority are entitled to 21 days’ paid vacation per year. For those with more than 10 years’ seniority or aged over 50, this number rises to 30 days per year.
Types of employment contracts
Open-ended contract (CDI): The most common type of contract, offering job security to employees.
Fixed-term contract (CDD): Used for temporary assignments, with a maximum duration of two years, renewable once.
Trial period
The maximum trial period is 3 months and cannot be renewed.

Minimum wage
Since March 1, 2024, the minimum monthly wage has been set at 6,000 Egyptian pounds, equivalent to 120 euros.
